Days to Harvest: 70 to 90 days.

Light: Sunny, partial shade in hot weather.

Temperature: Cold season, but seeds germinate best between 70° to 80° F.

Companions: Tomatoes, onions, garlic and lettuce.

Avoid Planting Near: Dill, parsnip and radish.

Preparation: After transplanting, mulch to conserve water and reduce weeds.

Planting:  Plant early enough in spring that crop is harvested before weather is too hot. You can also replant in summer, two months before expected fall frost for a second crop.

Spacing: 6 inches between plants, 18 to 24 inches between rows.

Water: Water in morning so leaves dry by night.

Tips: Mature plants will withstand frosts and overwinter for an early spring harvest.
