Preparation: Treat seeds with bacterial inoculant prior to planting. Also, trellising is needed.
Planting: Direct seed in early spring.
Spacing: 3 to 6 inches apart in double rows. Peas do not suffer from crowding. Double rows can be spaced 2 to 3 feet apart.
Water: 1 inch per week, deep watering
Harvest: Shelling peas and sugar snap peas are ripe when pods fill out. Pick snow peas when pods are pliable but seeds have not enlarged. Pick every day during short season.
Tips: Pick carefully with two hands, one holding the stem and the other plucking off pod.
